It is odd, I thought tariff fears might be a reason for the sell off but Canadian industrials ETF ZIN.TO is +15% last 3 months. Seems like a good spot to add.
First the tariffs seem like just a threat and not real. There's no dumping case to be made around Canada, if you put tariffs things like cars in the US would become incredibly more expensive, power in some states too. Steel guys are trying to ally themselves with Canada. There's all kinds of things that make me not worried about tariffs on Canada.
But even if there were. Velan has two sites in the US, not sure how much of the US revenue is cross border. And on top of that once you're specd into a nuclear plant or a refinery, they're not going to try and save 10% on cost by changing valves which could screw up the whole plant if it goes wrong, they'll just pay.
Isn't there a risk the company is underestimating the asbestos liabilities by a sizeable factor? What information do we have regarding the growth of new claims, provisions per claim, etc?
